William Akoto is a highly motivated, passionate, innovative and tenacious Ghanaian Canadian. William has over 10 years combined experience in Marketing, Strategic Communications, Brand Building, Digital Marketing and Political Management.
In his previous position, he developed and implemented successful marketing strategies, and managed sales and operations for Mac's Convenience stores and gas bars in Southern Alberta while managing over 35 staff members and annual revenue of about $23,000,000.
Currently as the head of marketing and communications at Money Mentors, he is responsible for marketing, company branding, strategic communications, market research, SWOT/competitive analysis, sponsorship, promotions, media, and community relations initiatives. He ensures corporate objectives are met through a comprehensive integrated marketing communications plan.
In the political arena, William was the past Vice President of Communications for Alberta Liberal Party and also works as a strategist and advisor for progressive political candidates in Canada and Ghana.
Alongside work, William is presently pursuing an Executive MBA at the University of Calgary, Haskayne School of Business. William is also a graduate of York University - Masters Certificate in Marketing Communications Leadership, University of Calgary – Bachelor in Communications, and Centennial College - major in Advertising.
Outside of work, William serves as Board Member for several social, humanitarian and political organizations in Canada.
